Fotis Raftopoulos
Fotis Raftopoulos was born in 1961 in Alexandria (Egypt). In 1979 he began his studies at the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, which he abandoned in order to study Sculpture with Professor Theodoros Papagiannis at the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 2002 he obtained his Master diploma in Digital Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts.
Since 1997 he has participated in numerous group art-exhibitions, such as the International Sculpture Symposium of Delphi 1997, the International Sculpture Symposium of Cyprus 1999, the GLORIA Gallery (Nicosia 2002), the ARTIO Gallery (Athens 2003), the 3rd International Student Triennale (Instanbul 2003), the Project DUST–Artb Group (Belgium/Ireland/Holland 2003 and Athens/Volos Greece 2004), the EDAYS: Virtual Images and Reality (National University of Athens 2005), the 2ο International Art Festival – RE-culture 2 (Patras Greece 2013), the ANANTI Gallery (Trikala Greece 2014), the TECHNOCHOROS Gallery (Ioannina Greece 2015) and others.
A personal exhibition of his work was held in 2012 at Batagianni Gallery in Athens under the title “Sculpture”.
From 2003 until 2018 he had been teaching as an Adjunct Lecturer the following courses at the MA in Digital Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts: “Three-Dimensional Graphics and Animation”, „Studio of Embedded Digital Sensor Systems” and “Multimedia in Arts”. In 2013 and in 2015, he participated as an invited lecturer in the Summer School “Extended Arts”, organized by the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineeringof the University of the Aegean in Syros.
Since 2019 he is an Assistant Professor in “Digital Sculpture – Plastic Arts: new expressive forms of Sculpture using digital media” at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University, where he teaches the courses “Sculpture I”, “ Sculpture II”, “Digital Sculpture I” and “Digital Sculpture II”. He also teaches „Digital Illustration – Animation” and „Motion Picture Arts“ at the MA in “Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age”. Digital Age"
He currently resides and works in Corfu.
