Lena Athanasopoulou
Lena Athanasopoulou is a visual artist and a filmmaker born in Thessaloniki, 1979. She studied at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London (BTEC Foundation in Fine Art, 1997-1998), and Goldsmiths College (BA Fine Art and Art History, 1998-2001 & MA Image and Communications, 2002-2003), University of London. She has realized 3 solo exhibitions (Batagianni Gallery 2006 & 2012, Zina Athanasiadou Gallery 2015). Among other group exhibitions, she has presented her work at: 1 st Lagos Biennial, Momus in Thessaloniki, Martin Gropious Bau in Berlin, Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna, Skol in Canada, Gallery 50-1 Cyprus, Bookartbookshop in London, Bear Gallery in London, the Lux Centre in London, 1st Biennial of Thessaloniki, the Benaki Museum in Athens, Art Athina, XV Biennale de la Mediterranee, Symbiosis? In Thessaloniki, Athanasiadou Gallery Logaras, Paros. Her work is among Museum collections: Momus Thessaloniki, Ethnological Museum of Macedonia and Thrace in Thessaloniki, Capelouzos Family Art Museum and private collections in Greece and abroad. She was a Lecturer (2009-2013) at the School of Fine Art in Florina, University of Western Macedonia in Greece. She has presented her documentary “Drink and be Merry” at the 17 th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. She was an artist Fellow at ZK/U Berlin during 2015.
