About the exhibition
In her solo exhibition Paper in Bloom, Dimitra Papadimitropoulou presents a new body of work featuring dresses made from paper. These three-dimensional pieces are unique creations, each one conceived as an individual work.
Paper, along with light, has always been among her favourite materials, and she continues to explore their almost magical qualities. The works in the exhibition open an imaginary dialogue of emotions with the viewer.
The artist offers us the freedom to experience them and to create our own story with them. Dimitra is a child of the theatre. Her dresses are “roles”. They are theatrical, playful and vibrant, inviting us to feel a sense of joie de vivre. Now, at the beginning of spring, the true beginning of the year, Dimitra invites us to say an emphatic YES to joy.
Dimitra Papadimitropoulou studied theatre and micro-sculpture.
She first worked in theatre as an actress and later turned to artistic stage pieces for theatre and film. Alongside this work, she creates original artistic jewellery and micro-sculptures. Her work has been presented in galleries such as Astrolavos, Ileana Tounta and Deste.
