Vicky Betsou

Vicky Betsou is a visual artist. She studied Biology at National and Kapodestrian University of Athens (for 2 years), Painting at Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and completed her MA in Digital Arts at ASFA (2000) with distinction. She has been a teaching assistant in Multimedia and Video-art courses at ASFA since 2001. In 2006 she was elected a Lecturer and is teaching Video-Art in the graduate and postgraduate program of the same Institute. She has participated in several research programs concerning Art and new Media and participated in E-Learning research projects on Art education in collaboration with National Technical University of Athens. She has directed and edited several video and multimedia productions for Tele-teaching and Distance Learning purposes, and for the promotion of research and Cultural European programs of Minister of Education, EDET-GUNET, Information Society etc. She has created stage designs for theater and television. From 1997 to 2002, she has also been teaching Experimental Animation and video to children and teenager students, at Municipal School of Art of Agia Paraskevi, Athens.

Her artistic work has been presented in exhibitions and festivals in Greece and abroad, like: Athens Festival 2011: “A tribute to Yannis Xenakis” by Ergon Ensemble – performance for orchestra, actor and video, ART ATHINA 2011: “microgeographies I”, festival Rencontres Internationales, Paris, Centre Pombidou 2010, Athens Concert Hall, 2008: “Asma Asmaton” a multimedia performance for metzo-soprano, chamber ensemble, laptop, video and dance, State Museum of Contemporary Art 2006: «Crossing the borders» - Visual arts in Greece, “An outing” Contemporary Art in 21st century, Beltsios Collection, Matsopoulos Mill Art & culture Center, Trikala 2006, “elevators – corridors”, To Milo gallery, Athens (solo) 2005, "at Mostra SESC de Artes Mediterraneo - 2005", Sao Paolo, Brazil, Biennial of FILMMUSEUM of Amsterdam, “Breaking News” project 2003, 10th International Festival of Ancient Drama, European Cultural Center of Delfi 2000 among others.

She lives and works in Athens.
